Project Tiger at Bandipur is one of the first ‘Tiger Reserves’
in the country to halt demographic pressures on diversion
of wilderness areas to agriculture and threat to several rare
species including the Tiger. The efforts have registered a
striking success, there being a steady rise in the animal
population and a concomitant wide range dispersal of
animals ensuring more efficacious use of the habitat.
The tourism zone in the park consists of 82 sq. kms. of Semi Deciduous Jungle with a lot of shrub and bush on the buffers.
At Bush Betta eco-tourism is used as a tool for conservation. All our resorts promise job opportunities to the local tribals and schedule castes. The Resort has also greatly enhanced the value of their little land holdings. We have always believed in the fact that tribals of the area must be shown direct benefits from a better and safer source of income for them to change their dependence on the jungle after their rehabilitation. In the construction of Bush Betta approx. 120 tribals were given jobs for nearly 2 years. At the resort 90% of the staff hired are tribals.
